Child Abuse

Child abuse is the physical and mental mistreatment of children. It usually occurs in the child's home and the abuser is generally known by the child and his/her family.

Child abuse is defined by three categories:

Sexual Abuse- the child is sexually molested, their privacy is violated or they are exposed to explicit adult materials.

Physical Abuse- this can vary from a smack to broken bones and in some extreme cases even death.

Psychological Abuse- the child is mentally tortured, they are shamed in front of elders and peers or they are not given a sufficient amount of love and affection.
